New Year, New Site Design

Happy New Year from PearlyWrites, LLC!

As you can see we have given our site a brand new facelift with sleek, slender design and bows and PEARLS all wrapped up into one nice package. If you have ever seen our print marketing collateral (which isn’t sent out very much), you will now see a fully branded company. Welcome to PearlyWrites, LLC! We have come a long way baby and want to thank everyone who has made it possible to allow PW to continue to grow.

Thank you to my family who has been supportive of me these past few years and my dreams of being an online business woman entrepreneur. My husband who hides behind the scenes of PearlyWrites but is an integral part of our online business, thank you (now get back to work!).

Thank you to friends and business friendships who have been there in support and spirit. The connections we have made have been hugely important this year.

Thank you to Josh Gilmore for branding PearlyWrites, LLC. For clients branding, it comes natural to me, but for my own business, it was a little harder to decide. Josh, thank you!

Thank you to Mitch for joining me in the rubber room. (Um, the secret is out, the rubber room wasn’t as fun as we both thought…)

Thank you to all PearlyWrites’ contractors for a wonderful year and looking forward to even more fun in 2009! Thank you to Josh, Mitch, Nicole, Renee, Andrew, Ralph, Alexis, Robin, Dennis, and David. We’ve all come a long way together and as individuals and I am so fortunate to have connected with you all. You Rock!

Thank you to Basecamp for allowing us to work proficiently as an online marketing company. In that case, thank you to Vonage, Skype and email! Without you, our virtual company would not be possible.

Thank you to Nina Myers who has created SimpleApple.com with me to help self-published writers and Indie Artists get their name and product out on the Web.

AND Thank you to every person I have connected to on Twitter aka Tweeps! Social Media has opened up new doorways in my life and business and I look forward to another wonderful year of making even more connections and Tweeting with you!

Happy New Year! PW is going to ROCK in 2009!

Simple Apple

With great excitement, I like to tell you about a pre-launch of Simple Apple. Simple Apple is a new site where myself, Lisa and Nina Myers of The Best Apple will be offering Web/Blog design services and online marketing services including coaching and support to self-published writers, authors, and Indie artists.

An ongoing joke with a few of PearlyWrites’ contractors is “Lisa supports the Indie community.” My ultimate goal is to be able to sponsor a few of our contractors who are amazing rock bands bands like 20 Minutes to Park. Now writers who need help marketing their book or e-book can contact the Simple Apple or an Indie artist needing help marketing their product. We are here to help!

A little know fact about me is I was once a musician, singer and a dancer. Before starting PearlyWrites, I was very involved in the arts. I own a Ebony Baby Grand Piano, I privately taught over 150 children to sing Hebrew and it is time to get back to my roots and help others in the art community. Collaborating with Nina has been an on going discussion and we are happy to say Simple Apple will be officially launching in the new year.

Simple Apple, Simple Solutions

Happy New Year!

50 of the Most Powerful and Influential Women in Social Media

While taking a break from Organic SEO and writing content for a few new e-learning courses today, I hopped on Twitter (AbFab micro-blogging tool!) to read Ron Hudson’s posting about the 50 most powerful and influential women in social media.

I always love supporting the women in social media because they are Rockin’ it and was going to comment on how wonderful everyone on the list is. Now this may be embarrassing but I was not expecting to see my name and there it was!

#36 Lisa Weinberger! I am so excited and honored to be on the list!

Social Media is very important and whenever I meet online business owners in person, I continually “preach” to them that they MUST start getting involved in Social Media and they just laugh at me. They can continue to laugh and make negative comments but WAKE UP! We are living in a virtual world of the Internet. The days of the door to door salesman is slowly coming to an end and practically over.

Do you really think just sending out an email or having a Website will “connect” you to potential clients?

Do you think never actually making a connection will sell your product or service?

Do you think Cold Calling without prior connection and bullying into purchasing makes you an ethical business person?

PearlyWrites is a huge promoter and supporter of Social Media. We LOVE to connect to people online and offline. Its amazing to connect with friends, followers and potential clients online and then meet face to face offline and there is such a wonderful level of comfort as if you have known one another for years!

Develop the trust, respect and communication through Social Media and you will continue to learn and be pleased with all your relationships.

Tweeps, Make it a Great Day! @PearlyWrites :)

Organic SEO for the Hospitality Industry

Although the hospitality industry has big names that many of us know like Hilton, Marriott and Ramada; did you know if you did a search with the basic keywords of “Phoenix hotels” or similar that the first sites which show up in the natural / organic SERP’s are those for Expedia, Cheaptickets, Orbitz and other hospitality booking sites?

The travel booking sites have a high volume of pages which dominate the search engines for specific keywords and mainly because they have been online businesses for close to 10 years! And even newer players in the game are seeing their day in the spotlight like Kayak. I mean if a potential client does a search for “Comfort Inn Georgia” and the hotel of Comfort Inn wants to be found first in the natural listings vs a travel booking site then what do they need to do to get to that page result and dominate that page with all their hotels located throughout the world?

So what should Hotel chains do when wanting to conquer the organic search results?

For hotel organic SEO, first the brand should devise a strategy, either in house or by contacting an outside source who understands how to get listed organically in the search engines. Once they have the knowledge and experienced players on board, then write out the expected goals and a time frame when these goals can realistically be met.

  • Discuss what needs to be completed. Some Organic SEO choices can be SEO Web content, MetaData, hotel blog entries, article submissions, social media, natural link exchanges, RSS feeds, and landing pages.
  • Devise a 6-12 month plan, broken up into phases with realistic deadlines.
  • Give status updates to the corporation 1-2 times a week.

The biggest thing we have found is that corporations, no matter what industry, don’t have much information when it comes to Organic SEO. We have in-person, phone or web meetings to discuss a strategy, the realistic expectations and the best course of action and devise a 6-12 month phase plan.

Working together to devise an Organic SEO plan and allowing a strategist to do their job and then discussing the phases is the best route to take when looking toward a long term organic hospitality SERP goal.
